The Movement

The Columbia Urban League Young Professionals (CULYPSC) is a nonprofit organization comprised of professionals who serve the Midlands area. Immediate objectives are community service, civic engagement, economic self-reliance, personal development, and leadership empowerment.

Here at CULYPSC, we support our affiliate and YOU! We want to make it easy for you to become involved in all that this Movement has to offer. CULYPSC began with people just like you – people looking for an opportunity to make a difference. Your opportunity to continue that legacy starts now. The Columbia Urban League Young Professionals (CULYPSC) is a Columbia Urban League volunteer auxiliary that targets young professionals ages 21-40 to empower their communities and change lives through the Urban League Movement.

Our mission is to support the Urban League Movement through volunteerism, philanthropy, and membership development.

Standing Committees

The Advocacy and Civic Engagement Committee shall create an awareness and understanding of issues in and around the Greater Columbia area, including Calhoun, Fairfield, Kershaw, Lexington, Richland, and Sumter counties.

The Communications Committee shall be responsible for marketing all information regarding CULYPSC and the organization's programs, meetings, events and other endeavors. This includes but is not limited to print collaterals, video, social media, etc.

The Community Service Committee shall develop, coordinate and execute community service projects that align with the vision, mission, and objectives identified that engage the YP movement.




The Cultural and Social Committee shall develop and coordinate all cultural and/or social events for CULYPSC.

The Fund Development Committee shall generate ideas, create and coordinate activities to raise funds for CULYPSC programs.

The Membership and Recruitment Committee shall recruit and encourage prospective members to join CULYPSC as well as provide membership services as directed by the Executive Board.




The Personal and Professional Development Committee shall plan and organize speakers and activities for General Body meetings, present forums, workshops, and other endeavors to facilitate the development of the professional networks.
