In our community, Dementia Speaks is a 4-day education opportunity designed to inform specific communities about the effects of dementia.

If you are a caregiver or you provide some level of support for someone living with dementia, this education program is for you. The information is facilitated by professionals with the following backgrounds: social work, gerontology, medical, counseling, care coordination/management, and legal.

Topics Covered / Questions Answered:

  • What is Alzheimer's disease and/or Dementia?

  • What causes Dementia?

  • What are the Treatment strategies?

  • How to Respond to Behaviors?

  • What are the Legal implications?

  • What are the available Resources?

Upon completion of the program, participants will receive a Dementia Care Partner certificate.

The education program is provided at no cost to participants and is available in a community near you.  If you are in need of Respite/Sitter Services to attend the seminars, please contact the Alzheimer's Association 2 weeks in advance by calling 1-800-272-3900.
